When the Bell Tolls

“And he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment.” -Revelation 21:6

The clock will reach midnight, and a new year will be ushered in. There will be merriment and singing, cheers and kisses. But all of our celebration will be nothing compared to what is coming. The glory of Christ is coming, declaring that “It is done.” From the moment of “It is finished” on the cross, we now eagerly await this coming day of completion when the thirsty will drink of the water of life, freely given to them by their King.

This is what we look forward to. Even now—indwelt by the Spirit, comforted, equipped for life—we still live toward this great and glorious day. No matter how life is unfolding in this moment, the promise is for you. You are headed to hearing Jesus speak these words worth knowing. It is done. You are forever safe, forever provided for, and forever refreshed by his grace.

Today, keep an eye toward this coming day. Let it fuel you to live leaning into Jesus as you face what he has set before you. He is the beginning and the end. He is for you.
