Forever Reminding
Pastor Jonathan's Monday reflection:
"To him all the prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.” Acts 10:43(ESV)
To Jesus, they bore witness and everyone who believes is forgiven through his name. By the blood of the Lamb we are made righteous, purified, presentable and permanently saved. Let that sink in. We need that to sink in. And that is why we keep coming back to this truth over and over again. That is why the Bible keeps coming back to this truth over and over again.
It is our source of life and vibrancy in the church - the gospel of grace. And nothing else takes preeminince, this is our main thing.
Peter, the apostle preaching this truth in Acts 10, defends the move of the Spirit and says "who am I to stand in the way of God?!" And we say the same thing today. This grace might be unsettling because it seems too good to be true. But it is true, it is the words of life that we find in Scripture. Full stop. Yes!
This apostle would also live a ministry life of reminding the church of this truth. "Therefore I intend always to remind you of these qualities, though you know them and are established in the truth that you have. I think it right, as long as I am in this body, to stir you up by way of reminder," 2 Peter 1:12-13.
Likewise, this is what we will be about, the forever reminding of the gospel. Let it form you, let it shape your life and be certain, we will remind each other of it. You are God's beloved in Christ. Yo are secure, and Jesus is pleased in you. Be free.
