“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?” -Matthew 6:25
You can't serve two masters. You must choose either God or the things of this world. This world leaves you worrying about having enough; instead of being satisfied, you are anxious.
Lots of things in life leave us anxious. Work. Home. Leisure (yes, even the way we pursue fun can make us anxious). But Jesus calls—or better yet, commands—us not to be anxious about our life. Don't be anxious over the provision that God will surely give. Just look at the birds and their adornment.
God's provision doesn't always look like we might imagine, but his grace is ever present to care for our needs. This is very practical and should change the way Christians face life. This truth is also spiritually significant in ways that are set to remove any anxiety. After all, life is more than food and clothing.
You are a human in need. Sinful and broken, you need a savior, someone to act on your behalf and make things right. God sends his son as grace to you to live in your place and die to cover your sin. Provision extended. Salvation secured.
Now the promise gets even better. Jesus will transform you, sanctify you, and bring you all the way home. To eternity with him where there is no pain, tears, fears or anxiety. All of life will be an experience of God's ongoing provision for you. That is just the fuel we need to turn from anxiety when it comes our way today.
Don't be anxious. Jesus has this.
