Despite the official stance of atheism, China’s government permits an approved Christian national church called “The Three Self Patriotic Movement” (TSPM), or simply “Three-Self Church.” Most TSPM churches in GX are meeting for worship weekly, though with COVID restrictions on services like prayer meetings, youth groups, or English congregations. GX people in select towns have access to God’s word and Christian community.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Col 3:16

A leader in a GX house church, Chuning reflects, “People are coming less and less frequently. Everyone has different reasons. China is very proud and nationalistic right now and people are closed to perceived foreign influences, like Christianity. People put work, family, and country before Christ.” Chuning and her husband meet with believers weekly in a small group-like setting. Pastoral care is a strength in this church, with up to 20 people listening to a message and sharing a meal together.



Let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. Heb 10:24-25
