Remember GX: Rhythm and Rhyme
After the ceremonial sacrifice, everyone sings the Pan Wang (King Pan) song and dances the King Pan dance to thank him for his kindness. They also pray for King Pan to bless his descendants. The Pan Wang Song/Chorus is a collection of Yao poetry. It takes seven days and seven nights to sing it through. It tells of the origin of all things, tells of floods, praises the places where the Yao people lived, reflects on the hunting and farming life of the Yao people, and praises love. They will also please a musical instrument called the "yellow mud drum" during the song/chorus. This event provides an opportunity for men, women, and children to socialize. Unmarried people may find a mate through antiphonal songs while the elderly exchange farming experiences.
