As our nation and the world grapple with the spread of the Coronavirus, it is important that as believers and the church we maintain our posture and response trusting in the sovereignty of God and his care for us. We are to be a people that go into the breech for others and disease or calamity rather than dissuade us, draw us to our feet for our neighbors.
We also want to care for each other well and take precautions where appropriate. To that end this Sunday we missed communion because our stock of sealed elements had spoiled and replacements would not arrive in time. That led to our refreshment time being scuttled.
Moving forward, we will be using sealed cups for communion which will resume Sunday and every time we gather for worship. We will also make snacks available after service for those who enjoy them.
We will continue to gather for worship on Sundays and in our small groups during the week and as usual, if you are sick we ask that you prioritize your care and prevent spreading it to others. Also, reach out to the elders so that we could visit and pray with you.
When we do gather together, please respect those that might prefer not to shake hands or hug.
This potential pandemic is an opportunity for the church to live our declaration of the goodness of Christ and his care for his people and their mission in the world. Let’s not be subdued by fear and instead love our neighbor well and lift the name of Jesus high.
