RBX: Wedding Rituals

Daban Yao weddings are unlike most Chinese ones. The bride is led by her parents to the groom’s house for a feast. Before they leave home, wine is fed by the mother to the bride. Arriving at the groom’s house, the bride must wash her feet and change shoes. The newly-weds will feed each other sticky rice to signify commitment. It is said that water (in the wine and feet-washing) is an important element of their culture.

 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.” John 4:10
