“But of Israel he says, “All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and contrary people.” -Romans 10:21
Romans has some great news for Gentiles, those not part of Israel; we have been invited into relationship with God by the grace of Jesus. By his sacrifice, lives are claimed, and sin is covered. At belief, you are saved.
But God's plan for Israel is not yet finished, and even that news is good for Gentiles.
All of humanity, lost in rebellion and sin, are “disobedient and contrary people.” Yet “all day long” God holds out his hands—his hands of grace, of welcome to the enemy humans in a need of a Savior.
Perhaps you have already grasped that hand. Rejoice in it. Rejoice in God's loving kindness that led you to repentance, to turning away from sin and turning to Jesus. There is nothing more than to obey, and God gives you the power to do just that.
Perhaps you have yet to embrace God's gracious hand. Today could be your day. Realize the gift of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection. Believe in him and rest in his finished work. Know you are secure and established in Christ.
